updates abound

Saturday, March 3rd, 2007

The band has finished their first recording session in Nashville and they sound pretty excited about it. Andy O is really happy with where the band is halfway through. Todd agrees that things are going swimmingly.

Caedmonscall.com
has a new splash page up with photos and blogged comments from the band. Cliff has even left a comment! color me amazed. If “the guy in the hat” is excited about the album, then count me in too.

musical engineering

Friday, February 16th, 2007

in a comment to my last post, JP said he heard that Mitch Dane and Matt Allison would be producing the next CC disc.

I did some digging and can confirm that Mitch and Matt will be working with Caedmon’s, only that they will be engineering, and not producing, the disc.

Mitch Dane, who by the way has a Grammy for his engineering, runs Sputnik Sound Studio in Nashville, where the band will be doing some of the recording.

I’ve also heard that the band will officially start recording next Friday, February 23rd.

If any of this information is false, call my lawyer.

Feb 07 Update

Saturday, February 10th, 2007

Well, not a lot to update right now…but here’s a few tidbits…

+The new album will likely be released in late August. August 21st maybe? or August 28th? We’ll see.

+Todd has an impressive beard going right now…more on that in a minute

+As far as i know there is no producer lined up for the album right now…but don’t quote me on that.

+Cliff, Todd, Garett, Andy, and Randall were all in Nashville last week working on songs for the record and discussing the overall philosophy of the disc.

+Rumor has it that Cliff, Todd, Garett, and former CC member Derek Webb were all at Andy Osenga’s solo show in Nashville on Thursday Night.

For a much better update, including more details and some good photos, be sure to check out Andy Osenga’s latest blog post Pre-Production Part 2.

Jan 07 Update

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

A few rumors I’ve heard with regards to Caedmon’s next studio release and other news…

+ It will be released in 2007, most likely August.

+ It will be released under a record label, not as an independent CD.

+ As i type this CC is interviewing a producer(s) who might be interested in producing the album

+ The album will not be titled “ITCOA3: Why Not One More?”

+ There will probably be a Fall 07 Tour supporting the release.

+ There’s a handful of extremely talented folks writing for this album, all folks who have written for Caedmon’s before.

+ Todd has healed up enough to where he can play drums again, keep him in your prayers though.

first pre-production video

Monday, November 20th, 2006

hey everyone, here’s some proof that Caedmon’s is in fact getting things started on their new record. This little video clip provided by andrew osenga-tarantino gives you a small glimpse into the studio where a few members of the band are doing some pre-production on a song that may or may not be titled “Found”. Andy, Todd, and Garett are there, as well as Caedmon’s writer extraordinaire Randall Goodgame. Derek Webb is not there (he left the band a few years ago in case you didn’t know).

Thanks for the clip Andy, you rock like quartz or something.

the new album

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

well, at this point i don’t have too much to report on the new album. i do know that andy osenga and randall goodgame have been writing for it. i also know that they both think that this is going to be a great disc. in fact, i havent heard andy this excited since Share the Well, so that’s encouraging.

Although not confirmed, I do believe that this record will be put out on a label imprint and not as an independent band. It will not be on the Essential Records label, that’s for sure.

From the accounts I’ve heard, the band is moving faster, rather than slower, on getting this album done. As a fan, I’m excited that they might be getting me new material as soon as early 2007, but I also hope that they are not rushing things and that no quality will be sacrificed in order to get something done quicker. We’ll see how things develop.

pens of fury

Monday, October 16th, 2006

We’re headed into NashVegas today to meet up with some of the folks who make Caedmon’s Call the amazing band that they are. In fact, Andy O and Randall Goodgame won’t be meeting up with us until later in the evening because they’ll be spending most of the day writing for the next Caedmon’s record. These two teamed up to write some of the best stuff on Share the Well, although Josh’s stuff was pretty good too, so we’re excited to hear that they are working together again.

If we can get any info out of them regarding the new record, you know that we will. and of course, we’ll pass it along to you.

Andy O on the next CC disc

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

From Andy O’s blog regarding ITCOA2 and the next Caedmon’s disc:

During the making of that album [Andrew's, The Morning], Caedmon’s did a record-contract-fulfilling worship album that was better than it should have been but still bombed, probably because no one really cared about, from the label or the band. That really is unfortunate. The band is in a very excited state right now, though, as we’re planning and writing and gearing up for a new chapter, free from our old contract and other junk. I’m pretty jazzed about where it’s going, to tell you the truth. And I told you I wasn’t jazzed about that worship record, so you can trust me.

Just thought I’d pass that along.

Oh, and Guild 2 and Guild 3 CDs are now $5 a piece in the Caedmon’s Online Store. This is only for Guild 5 Members. At some point in the near future the price will be raised (probably back up to around $10) and the CDs will be offered to the public. So if you want to take advantage of this deal, better to do it now and not put it off.

Israel Trip Cancelled, next album being written

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Because of the current conflict happening in Israel, this trip has been cancelled.

In other news, the band is writing for their next CD, which will not be on Essential Records. We’ve heard rumors about other record labels, some involving various letters of the alphabet, but nothing has been confirmed to us yet. If i had to throw together a rough timeline based on what i’ve heard from the band and from what I know of how Caedmon’s usually operates, i would say that the record should be recorded in the next couple of months, will be finished up at the beginning of next year, will be released in the summer, and will be followed up by a huge tour in the Fall of ‘07. But that’s 90% conjecture and guesstimating on my part.

News on Guild 5 coming this week…stay tuned.

Sharing the News

Friday, May 21st, 2004

Here’s a few news items on the band that you may not have noticed over the past two weeks: CMCentral’s story on the band’s new record (due out October 12) details the overseas influences and experiences the band has had recently and their story on the many children who have been sponsored through Compassion International thanks to Caedmon’s Call. Meanwhile, the band entered the studio on May 10th to begin recording for their yet to be named Fall release. They are rumored to be working in the studio with Todd Robbins—who should not be confused with Todd Collins of Gotee Records—and all reports out of the studio have been positive. We hope to have some clips for you soon.
