The Autumnal Equinox Dish

Monday, September 22nd, 2008
  • Andy O recently put out his second for-free, summertime EP. Last year’s was really good, and so it this year’s. We recommend checking it out and, if you like it, donating to the cause. Those diapers don’t buy themselves, and those mortgage payments don’t just happen out of the blue.
  • If you haven’t kept track, Derek has been doing the NoiseTrade thing. It’s pretty awesome, and we think you should check it out. [And the only reason that Andy didn't choose NoiseTrade to distribute the Letters to the Editor EP was because I was willing to do it for free. ;) ]
  • Cliff and Danielle have been without power since Hurricane Ike, so they weren’t able to play this weekend’s show in Ohio. We’d love to thank Kevin and Mandy Mann for filling in to keep it from totally being Andrew’s Call.
  • We’re all hoping that the Youngs will make this upcoming weekend’s shows. We’ll advise when we know.

Update, 27 Sep: Josh Stockment reports that Mandy is indeed filling in for Danielle, and Randy Holsapple is filling in for Josh. And as we didn’t say, but most of you probably knew, Derek is off supporting the Art * Music * Justice tour right now.

Thankful: The Best of Caedmon’s Call

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Caedmon's Call - Thankful: The Best of Caedmon's Call [or, Essential sells their soul] While this was discussed on our forum, we decided that we’d wait and follow the band’s lead in discussing Thankful: The Best of Caedmon’s Call, the best-of album put out by Essential back in July, six weeks before Overdressed hit the streets. [No, no, really ... they put out another one after putting out Chronicles just three years ago. You may make your own snarky commentary below; we're too busy biting our tongues.] You can pick it up at CaedmonsCall.com, Amazon, or the iTunes Store.

And now, quoting the iTunes Store official review of the album without comment:

Thankful marked the end of Caedmon’s Call’s ten-year run with Essential Records. While 2004’s Chronicles included live and rare versions of the band’s hits, Thankful is a traditional best-of collection.

overdressed

Today is the day the Overdressed exits the womb and starts life in the real world. Although, i guess with pre-orders and stuff there’s already a bunch of Overdressed CDs out there already. But today is when it is official. So Happy 0th birthday Overdressed! May you find your way into the hands of as many folks who paid for you and didn’t illegally download you as possible.

(this post is brought to you by a 4:45am wake-up call)

The pre-orders are coming!

Friday, August 24th, 2007

mcfeelyIn fact, many people are already reporting that their copy (or copies) of Overdressed has/have arrived safely in their mailboxes courtesy of Mr McFeely. (Mr. Rogers’ reference anyone?)

The CD will be in stores a mere 4 days from now, but those of you who ordered the disc ahead of time might already be grooving to 14 tracks worth of Caedmon’s goodness.

Did you pre-order? If so, where you at and do you have yours yet? let us know.

Overdressed: the ecard

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

if you haven’t seen the Overdressed e-card yet (or is it ‘ecard’ or ‘Ecard’ or ‘eCard’?), make sure you check it out. Not only does it look spiffy, but you can also hear snippets from a few of the songs on Overdressed.

It also has a prominent link over to this site, so you could spend the entire day just clicking back and forth from our site to the e-card and back if you wanted to. Though we’re pretty sure that would drive anyone insane after about 90 minutes. Click below for some slick-looking Caed-web goodness:

one fortnight to go

So the new Caedmon’s Call CD, Overdressed, releases 2 weeks from today. We’ve been lucky enough to have had this disc for a while now and we are confident that y’all are going to enjoy the songs that the band has put together.

We’re also excited to announce that we’ll be partnering with the band to bring you some exclusive content during release week. We don’t have many details nailed down at this point, but for now just know that we’ll be there during all of the release week activities (from sunday to wednesday) and we’ll be blogging about it all. You’ll get some interviews, insights, photos, and some behind the scenes looks at what release week is all about.

Make sure you keep us locked and loaded in your favorites or feed reader, because we’ll be delivering the goods in about 11 days or so. stay tuned…

Overdressed Podcast, Episode 1

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Episode 1 of the Caedmon’s Call Overdressed Podcast is now available on iTunes. It’s only about 3 minutes long, but where else can you hear andy osenga talking about going to play group and cliff young admitting that he usually doesn’t listen to the band’s CDs once they’ve recorded them? Nowhere, i tell you…nowhere.

We also would like to mention that Derek is wearing a nice hoodie in this clip. Well, not a pull-over sweatshirt hoodie, but more of a zip up sweatshirt with a hood. And it’s black. You see, this is the type of coverage you don’t get anywhere else.

From what i understand there will be 8 of these when it’s all said and done, so you can watch them all as they come out like little Overdressed Appetizers or you can wait until they’re all available and make a meal out of them. The choice is yours.

Your mission for today: crank call someone today and tell them that Overdressed releases in exactly 6 weeks.

Overdressed Pre-Order …?

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Since I’ve seen people asking in Andrew’s comments on his blog—yes, I read the comments feed :)—I’ll note: I know nothing about the pre-release. At one point, it occurred to me that I didn’t know, but I also had a major work deliverable due today, so that took precedence. But as they say in radio, we’re efforting. [And by "efforting", I mean "I emailed Bryan to see if he knows".]

More when I know.

First listen from Overdressed

Friday, June 8th, 2007

if you head over to the band’s Myspace Page, you’ll be able to listen to “Share in the Blame” in its entirety.

Share in the Blame, which was written by Sandra McCracken, is track 06 on the album.

If it’s been a while since you’ve heard Derek and Danielle singing with each other, you’re in for a treat.
