Pre-sale Up Soon

The pre-sale page will be up by evening. So get back to work and quit asking Geof when it will be online. ;) We will post an update to this post when it’s out, and we’ll also tweet when it’s up— we’re @ccnet.

Update, 1650CT: So, here’s the 411: you’ll be able to get an instant download, plus some extras. There will be an exclusive physical version of the disc, for you collector types. [1000 printed.] Oh, and … something about Guild 1 was mentioned, but then our call was dropped. [THANKS A LOT, Steve Jobs.]

Update, 2220CT: It is now up.

  1. Tier 1: Digital album.
  2. Tier 2: Digital album + T-shirt.
  3. Tier 3: Digital album + T-shirt + digital copies of Guild content from over the years, including Guild 1 MP3s.
  4. Tier 4: Digital album + T-shirt + Guild content + physical CD.

Let’s clear things up: there will only be 1000 physical copies printed. That’s why the top tier is where that is. You want the physical CD, with all the bells and whistles that the band will put in it, you pay the highest price. Don’t eschew that expecting that there will be a bookstore release of this record.

I’ve got the guild 1-4 CD’s/DVD. not an incentive. just need the disk. i neeeed it Geof. this is not cool holding it hostage like this and i’m going to be forced to hit the bottle of tums. I’ve been up waiting on this dang buy link since midnight and now i’ve got to listen to you rubbing it in about having the CD for weeks and 1000 prints. It’s NOT FAIR I tell you!

  2. Life sucks. Buy a helmet. :)

For the record, the 1000 prints are of an exclusive, pre-order only version. There will obviously be more than 1000 pressings of this CD.

Given my collection, that’s the one I must have.

  4. For obsessive cc.net updaters… the pre-order is up now.

Caedmon’s Call is my favorite band, (with today’s events in mind, maybe I should say ‘was’). The thought of them ending breaks my heart. If this is the end, I don’t think this is a good way for them to go out. When Geoff writes the caedmon’s memoirs Overdressed will probably represent the last true Caedmon’s effort since there isn’t even a store release for this record, (not official information).

Not sure if Caedmon’s reads these posts, if so know that I respect you guys and Derek. My guess is that there is no conceivable way that Derek can tour with this band seeing that he is booked all throughout the year with his solo shows. That creates quite a problem with this record since it is 70% Danielle and Derek vocals. Not to mention that Andy O. is out of the picture as well so that would leave Cliff and Danielle to tour the record.

Don’t forget that this record was originally supposed to come out November 2009 through INO records, (according to brite revolution). Maybe they breached their contract in some way.

Main point is, things did not go as planned and this very well might be the end of my favorite band, (if it’s not the end I will be really surprised). Again, I don’t think this pre order deal was the way to end one of Christian music’s, (I know Derek doesn’t like labels…sorry) greatest bands. I purchased the 35$ option thinking a physical cd came along with it until I read this site. Then I came across Geoff’s article. If I wasn’t supposed to talk about this at this site, my bad, I couldn’t get on the rock my face thing.

So, all respect to Caedmon’s, but for the fans, I hope you guys will be upfront with us and let us know what’s going on, and maybe let us all get a copy of this last record if you got some left over when all this pre order stuff is done with. Here’s to hoping you guys can work something out. there’s not much going on in ccm world without you guys.

Let me get this straight. To thank a loyal fan who has followed them (even from outside Texas) their entire career, they’re asking me pay $50 for the physical disc? Outrageous! Don’t they realize that the dedicated fans who want to buy this album already have the Guild material. Not to mention they’re all grown up adults and don’t collect (or wear) band t-shirts anymore. Fans have spent a lot of time and money over the years going to concerts, buying CDs and merchandise, promoting their music, and in turn they get taken advantage of under the guise of buying a “limited edition” disc. I don’t give a flying hoot if it’s limited edition or not, I just want my Caedmon’s CD collection complete. I can create the digital version of the tracks with a click of a button on my computer. No thanks, Caedmon’s. Consider me disappointed. My Caedmon’s collection ends with “Overdressed.”

I don’t have a single problem with the way they are going about selling this music. This is the direction in which the industry is trending. It doesn’t surprise me one bit. You’re not going to print a ton of cd’s when people aren’t going to buy them.

And as far as the guild collection is concerned…people ask for Guild 1 all the time and it just doesn’t exist (except for in the cd wallets of the lucky 1000 or so of us)…so here’s a way for people to complete THEIR Caedmon’s collection (cheaper than the rest of us did by joining the guild each year it was offered).

So, buy the $10 download, burn it on a disc (if you need a physical copy) and enjoy the music!

  8. Chris says:

“Because that’s the way the industry is trending” is a poor excuse. Lots of artists have been following the trends without selling a physical CD for 50 bucks. Surely you know that burning a the music onto the disc is not the same as owning a physical copy that has been printed and packaged with the beauty and elegance of all of Caedmon’s CDs. They are true artists in all respects and they dropped the ball on this one.

    (Done with my rant).

  9. Josh F. says:

Add me to the list of disappointed. I have been a fan since seeing them in college in the 90′s… Their music changed my life. I ended up going to Seminary largely in part because of Caedmon’s’ theological influence.

That said, I would much prefer pay $10 – $12 for a cd and be done with it…

Not sure if I will pay $10 to download, or wait in hopes of a physical release in stores…

  10. Josh: There will be no store release.

  11. Michael H says:

I too think it stinks that the only way you’ll be able to get this cd is to pre-order it for 50 bucks. I love Caedmon’s Call and have them to thank for getting me interested enough to try out Derek’s solo material, but I refuse to pay 50 dollars for a cd, no matter how awesome it might be. As soon as I read last year that Caedmon’s was planning on recording with Derek again I was practically drooling at my computer, but after finding out about this I’m just sad and disappointed. I only hope that when Derek decides to release his next cd that he’ll actually release it in a store for preferably 15 dollars or less, and not do something like this for his own music, because if he does I’ll be literally crying my eyes out because his are among my most cherished cd’s in all my collection.
