A Return to the Rumor Mill

Remember the good old days when this site was a rumor mill? Yeah, we do, too.

So here’s a rumor you might be interested in: five intrepid musicians have been spotted at a ranch in Texas: Cliff and Danielle Young, Derek Webb, Todd Bragg, and Garett Buell. They were seen unloading foodstuffs and a kick drum. Could there be another record left in Caedmon’s Call? The world may never know.

Oh please. Please let there be at least one more.

  2. Stockment says:

Here’s hoping for Ed Cash produced covers of radio/family friendly chris tomlin worship covers :cross fingers:

  3. Rick Starr says:

I hope they unloaded some Cheeto’s and Funyuns. These are the staple foods that make a great Caedmon’s album happen. A few Dr. Peppers would hurt either.

  4. Bill B says:

As long as there is no vending machine things should be OK.

  5. Jud says:

Given that mix of musicians, I’m really hoping for a stripped down, coffee-shop type album as a swan song. It just feels right to end where you began, you know?

  6. Gary says:

Excellent! Hopefully this rumor turns out to be true… and hopefully Derek watches his language ;)

  7. Andrew says:

According to Andy Osenga’s blog, a new Caedmon’s project IS in the works, but sadly, Andy will not be partaking this time. Check out his post for some info:

  8. Caedmon Bandit says:

I heard Todd, inspired by Derek, uses the f-word on the new album. Oops, he already did that! ;)

  9. Adam says:

I’m an ordinary guy. Few things in entertainment get me excited. A new caedmon’s record, (and I mean a REAL caedmon’s record like their debut record, 40 acres, long line, overdressed. the others were o.k., but caedmon’s to me is cliff, danielle and derek with an awesome percussion section backing them) on the other hand is like a kid’s first Christmas to me. So hopefully this isn’t just someone blowing smoke because the caedmon’s site hasn’t been updated in almost a year.

  10. Adam says:

Go to the bright revolution site. The have to ‘first fruits’ of caedmon’s call new record due november. They have a minute of it. The voice you hear…derek webb. Good news.

    Jud:
I am disappointed in this “Swan Song” talk. These guys are in their thirties!! I mean, the ‘Stones are still rockin’ it at 75 or whatever they are. CC could still be making records for another 25-30 years:)

  12. Tony from Pandora says:

So, is there any truth to this Swan Song stuff. Are they thinking of calling it quits? I guess I’m a little out of it. I know nothing has been updated on their site, but that’s nothing new.

I hope the record ‘Walk On the Ocean’ to put in my two cents worth

  13. Tony from Pandora says:

it’s meant to say ” I hope THEY record…” by the way

  14. Matt says:

Tony, there haven’t been any official announcements from the group as far as calling it quits as far as I know. However, I think it’s evident that it’s getting harder and harder for the group to get together and record and tour the older they get and the more their families grow. I think that they’re getting a little tired. Also, Cliff mentioned to me at a show from the Overdressed tour that they weren’t 100% sure at that point if they’d do another record. So I’m pumped for the new album but expecting it may be it.

  15. Craig says:

A few friends of mine went to an impromptu Derek Webb concert last last at Ecclesia here in Houston. During the concert Derek said that Caedmon’s would be putting out a new CD in 2010. That seems pretty official to me.

  16. Chris says:

I was at Derek’s show in Houston last night and I can confirm what Craig said – there definitely will be a Caedmon’s record in 2010. In fact, Derek mentioned possible _records_. Derek made it sound like his involvment is much more than it was on their latest record. It was basically coming as close to saying he was rejoining the band as he could without actually saying it. He said something like, “A lot of the original members are getting together again to make this records – records. And we’re all writing this time, keeping it in house. Cliff’s writing, Danielle’s writing. We’re not outsourcing this time.”

    This morning, Derek tweeted:

-exhausted after amazing night @taftstcoffee. @joshthemoore, randy holsapple (from caedmon’s) & aaron tate in attendance. man, thanks houston

-and announced officially tonight: original caedmon’s call band members have reformed and we are writing for new album (2010 release)

-which explains all the strange trips to houston the last few months. seriously folks, this will be caedmon’s best album. details coming soon

  18. I love how everyone presumes that our source wasn’t a band source on this. We just posited it this way for cheeky value.

More details when we have them.

  19. Glenn Queener says:

I wonder if Aaron Tate will join them for the writing process. I’m with most of the folks on here, the best Caedmon’s stuff was early on (really up to Long Line of Leavers, imo), and I’d love to see/hear how the original line up and writing team has evolved.

  20. Aaron’s told people around Houston that he really hasn’t written anything since 2000. I would be stunned for a new Tate song on this new Caedmon’s record.

  22. Robbie says:

Aaron Tate + other original Caedmon’s members = amazing record!!!! Can’t wait.

  23. basim says:

Been listening to Guild stuff this past week and remembering road trips with the band to Kansas, Waco, A&M. Good Times. For some reason I’ve been thinking about pizza, cigars and Cavel this past week.
