Ross the poophead- OK I see some good points and would agree that the whole "Greatest Hits" does reek of sour grapes. Though I don't know exactly what the motive behind the exects was, I sure see it as foul play - NMW

But to the reason I posted - what are we to do? What is Caedmon's to do? Stew about it? Think bad thoughts about Essential? Pray that they stub their little toe while leaving their office today? Not buy the "Greatest Hits" album in protest? Hope the GH album tanks!

Look, you do what you want. But making right the "injustice" is out our hands. Call them names and call them out, drop your words on them. Feel better? OK- now what? See my point. The album is still in stores and Caedmon’s has another album to support. You’ve just added to the chaos. Not all things are profitable. So, leave the “justice” to God (Rom 12:19-21). I'm not saying don't call it what it is, just don’t call it what it is to the point of sin in your heart. Sin on their hands doesn't justify sin on mine or yours.

And what I meant by sovereignty was this: OJ will stand before God and give an account of what he's done. And so will everyone else whose sour grapes haven't been accounted for this side of heaven (this to shall be made right).

And hey- according to Rom. 8:28 it will work out for the good.

So my prayer is let people buy the GH album. CC is so good that most will want to buy there others...including Overdressed. If not I hope they are able to recognize good music and what a proper Christian perspective of life, love, salvation and God looks like. I know Caedmon’s has broadened me, why not someone else.

Overdressed is not a get-rich-quick album. It’s a this-is-who-we-are album. And revengeful is not who they are, I would believe. Though angry they may be, I’m sure they trust God ultimately for the success of their new album. Don’t you?

Also, you sound like a very intelligent person. I'm sure you can teach me a thing or two. Let’s start with "your lack of knowledge concerning CC concerts, etc, suggests lackeydom". Please elaborate for my edification.

Thanks for reading,

Eric -

Everything you just said, as well-meaning as I'm pretending it to be as I pretend to give you the benefit of the doubt, is bogus.

I would suggest that if I see injustice, and go "quietly about my business," which is the practice of law, I am in sin. I would suggest if I see someone wronged in front of me, and allow the wrongdoer to go unopposed to wrong another, in the name of "not thwarting God's plan," I am the man who was given a talent and hid it under a rock.

Eric - I have no idea if you post on the board, but your post, your lack of knowledge concerning CC concerts, etc, suggests lackeydom. And I'm going to call it for what it is - BS.

That is also what releasing the "greatest hits" was - BS. It reeks of sour grapes. It's the sort of thing that gives the "christian" music industry zero credibility in my generation. And, unfortunately, it supports "what works", that is, what works in making a profit at the expense of distributing art, instead of "what's right."

This Greatest Hits CD was not released pursuant to a contract. Sure, Essential can do it, they own the circle P copyright on all of CC's Essential albums. But to release it when they did? It is the worst kind of rotten animal dung. And no matter how you cover that animal dung up with flowers and platitudes like "God is sovereign," you have not changed the fact that it is animal dung.

I am not called by God to love a corporation. I am called to love people. I can't take your "truth in a candy bar." If I call Essential's move anything other than animal dung, then I am lying and in sin.

So therefore, I will keep my mouth shut. A "quiet heart," as you put it.

Love and Kisses,

Ross the poophead.

Hey- before we get all tweaked out by this move lets consider the sovereignty of God. What ever bumps, cliffs, fires, attacks (friendly fire included) we may face through life God calls us to put on a heart of forgiveness. God is sovereign (‘Cause You knew how You’d save me before I fell dead in the garden. And You knew this day long before You made me out of dirt, thanks DW). Nothing can thwart God's plan- NOTHING! So watch your heart and forgive those who have offended you, lest you fall in a similar trap as them. God will still watch over Caedmon's as they quietly go about their business (quietly referring to their hearts, not their concerts!)

Ehhh, I made an assumption that they'd see reduced residuals on a re-release. That assumption's probably pretty bad on my part, thus again proving why I'm an aerospace engineer and not a music rights lawyer. ;)

Geof, unless I missed something, I'm pretty sure that Essential still have to pay the songwriters. Laws are laws.

The only good thing I can say about this CD is that it is great for new Caedmon's fans who are into Overdressed and are craving their earlier stuff. I doubt many of here will purchase it though since we probably already have the songs already on their earlier CD's. I have some bad things to say but I won't say them unless provoked. Ha!
