Thankful: The Best of Caedmon’s Call

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Caedmon's Call - Thankful: The Best of Caedmon's Call [or, Essential sells their soul] While this was discussed on our forum, we decided that we’d wait and follow the band’s lead in discussing Thankful: The Best of Caedmon’s Call, the best-of album put out by Essential back in July, six weeks before Overdressed hit the streets. [No, no, really ... they put out another one after putting out Chronicles just three years ago. You may make your own snarky commentary below; we're too busy biting our tongues.] You can pick it up at CaedmonsCall.com, Amazon, or the iTunes Store.

And now, quoting the iTunes Store official review of the album without comment:

Thankful marked the end of Caedmon’s Call’s ten-year run with Essential Records. While 2004’s Chronicles included live and rare versions of the band’s hits, Thankful is a traditional best-of collection.

A Call for Bootlegs

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

Have you ever taped a Caedmon’s Call concert? Would you like to share that audio with your fellow CC fans? So would we. :)

If you ever taped CC in the past, please comment here or shoot me an email at gfmorris AT gfmorris DAHT net, and I’ll get with you. The process isn’t entirely painless, but it’s definitely doable, and if nothing else, I’ll take CDs that you mail me.

Oh, and if you haven’t noticed, we put up a pre-40 Acres bootleg of CC the other night: a late 1998 show from College Station that features a crowd hearing “Daring Daylight Escape” for the first time. I just finished listening to it, and man, it was a lot of fun. My thanks go out to Lance Orton of Blue Couch Studios for sending this one to me.

Another Young One?

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

In talking about tonight’s show in Salem, Andrew lets us know that he’s stuck with lead singing duties tonight because Danielle’s at the hospital in Houston, quite probably in labor. Please keep the Youngs in your prayers as well as Andrew, who’s understandably a bit flipped out by singing lead for the whole show. :chuckle: AO, your motto should be “Nine toes, no problem!” Break a leg, buddy.

Update, 6 Oct: At Saturday night’s CC show, it was announced that Danielle was still expecting. You know, for all of you who want to know these things.

Overdressed Selling Well

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

There’s a whole topic on the Rumor Forum relating to the release of “There Is a Reason” as a single and how the record is doing overall, and everything seems to be very, very positive. Todd played drums last night for a show Andy did up in Goodlettsville, TN, and afterwards, he and I talked about how the record was doing. He was really excited about it. I think his comment was something like, “We’ve still got it!”

Now, maybe you’re like me and don’t care too much about Christian radio—in my case, because it’s just like radio in America today in general, being generally poor for finding new music and being terribly hit-driven and generic—but I think that we can all agree that it’s a good thing that Caedmon’s Call is being successful on Christian radio: good radio charts tend to drive record sales, and continued commercial success for the band will make it possible for them to continue to do what they do.

Also, Todd promised a lot of fun stuff for the new tour. What a tease. ;)

10,000 Angels at the Release Show

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Michael Terry was at the Overdressed Release Concert in Houston last week and he grabbed this video of Derek performing “10,000 Angels” during the show’s encore. Arguably the best part of this clip is Andy Osenga coming on stage for an impromptu guitar solo.

“There is a Reason” – live at the Rivers Ranch

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

We got word a few minutes ago that Jon and Sherry Rivers mentioned this video clip (and our humble little website) on their morning show today, which is broadcast all across the country on KLOVE.

Not wanting to make our welcomed visitors have to search for the clip, i thought I’d bump it up to the front page.

This is INO Recording artist Caedmon’s Call performing “There is a Reason” off of their new disc Overdressed (on iTunes and in stores now) live on the Jon and Sherry Rivers Show on August 28th, 2007.

for those of you who saw this last week, sorry about the double post.

thanks to Matt Merriner for the heads up
