Share the Well

here’s a few shots from Monday afternoon. Whoever thought it was a good idea to have a concert in Texas at Noontime in August has ice in his/her veins. It was brutally hot, but the band played on. We thought only 5 people would show up, but i dare say that there was triple digits there spread out across the property. I snapped a few pics of the afternoon for your enjoyment.

The stage area was kinda cool…but not temperature cool, like Steve McQueen cool.

The rhythm section was on fire…almost.

one more gratuitous band photo

there were lots more people that didnt fit into this camera shot…lots more

and then we drove for 4 hours (and yes, those are the knees of a sleeping webb)
Today is the day the Overdressed exits the womb and starts life in the real world. Although, i guess with pre-orders and stuff there’s already a bunch of Overdressed CDs out there already. But today is when it is official. So Happy 0th birthday Overdressed! May you find your way into the hands of as many folks who paid for you and didn’t illegally download you as possible.
(this post is brought to you by a 4:45am wake-up call)

We’ll be at Jon Rivers’ ranch on Tuesday AM to do some stuff for his AM Radio Show that gets played on KLOVE Radio.
I think you can listen online at www.klove.com/listen…i know the band is doing the interview/live songs more than once, so depending on what time zone you’re in, maybe you’ll get to listen to it when you’re awake.
I’ll try to get some pics and or vids up of the performances later on Tuesday if possible…but we have to be in the lobby at 5:15am, so I’m not sure if I’ll be alive or not…
Christianity Today gave Overdressed 5 Stars, saying “…Overdressed is not only a superb and well-crafted return to form for this band; it may well be their best album to date…”
this morning we went to KPEZ in Austin for some radio morning show fun. here’s some visual proof:

within seconds of sitting down, cliff broke his headphones

is there anything more fun than a morning radio show

i think this is where they were making fun of derek for being short. good fun.
so here’s a few more shots from last night’s show…

a few band members with original band manager, and all around studly dude, kirby trapolino (center)

derek, cliff, and christie (band manager) “discussing” the set list minutes before showtime.

Andrew and Clifford

as powerful a 3-4-5 middle of the lineup as you’ll find on any baseball team.

trashcanning just like old times

andy killing it on the electrical guitfiddle

cliff, derek, and grizzly adams in the background
Caedmon’s Call’s drummer Todd Bragg has written a poignant little article called The Gospel is Greener over at Glenn Lucke’s Common Grounds Online Blog.
In the article, Bragg talks about those times in life where we feel like the grass might be greener somewhere else, and how that relates to the need we often feel to fill that gap ourselves instead of looking to God. He even brings it all back to the title of the new Caedmon’s disc, saying,
“…Overdressed comes from the idea that since the Fall (see Genesis), in order to cover up our shame or our sin nature, we put on clothing that makes us look better before others and ultimately before God. Many times unknowingly trying to reconcile the broken relationship with our Creator.”
The article is a quick 4-minute read, so check it out if you get a chance.
I’ll try to be brief…
I finished my dotnet stuff for the liveblog and walked back out into the venue to discover that the voices i had been hearing for the past 15 minutes were not of the band…it was the cleaning crew.
I walked outside, a little suspicious, and sure enough, the parking lot was empty.
THE BAND LEFT ME AT THE VENUE.
problem was, everyone split up into more cars than we arrived in, because family was there. since a headcount was out of the question, and since ya know, i’m not in the band…they forgot about me. i almost cried to my mommy…but somehow i held it together long enough to call up Andy and remind him of what they left behind.
All’s well that ends well…and now i have a good story to tell at least.
